How to watch MSU-Nebraska Big Ten Tournament baseball game on Tuesday

The Spartans face the Cornhuskers in the Big Ten Tournament on Tuesday.

Michigan State baseball will begin Big Ten Tournament play on Tuesday in an intriguing matchup with Nebraska.

The Spartans received the final bid into the Big Ten Tournament as the No. 12 seed and will face No. 8 seed Nebraska in their opening game. Michigan State will then play No. 1 seed Oregon on Thursday.

In baseball, the Big Ten tournament starts as a round robin, where teams are split into four pods of three – playing the other two teams in the pods. The team with the best record at the conclusion of the two games will move on to a single elimination semifinal matchup. If all three teams end in a 1-1 tie, the highest seed gets the spot in the semifinal as the tiebreaker. With that being said, Michigan State will have to win both games against Nebraska and Oregon in order to advance to the semifinals.

This will be the first meeting between the Spartans and Cornhuskers this season. The Spartans carry a 28-25 overall record and 13-17 mark in Big Ten play into this matchup. Nebraska is 28-27 overall and 15-15 in conference play this year.

Michigan State’s only chance of reaching the NCAA Tournament would be to win the Big Ten Tournament and earn the automatic bid.
