Rachael Leigh Cook, Freddie Prinze Jr. set ‘She’s All That’ reunion with holiday movie

Faux prom queens, rejoice! She’s All That alums Rachael Leigh Cook and Freddie Prinze Jr. are reuniting for a new holiday movie.

Two decades after playing love interests in the 1999 teen classic, the duo will once again fall in love in Fox Entertainment’s upcoming romantic comedy The Christmas Affair, which will also count She’s All That co-producer Jennifer Gibgot as producer.

Per the synopsis, Cook and Prinze will play Natalie and Gabe, two “superstar sportscasters” who form an unlikely alliance (sound familiar?) after they discover their respective spouses’ infidelities just weeks before Christmas.

“As holiday chaos and media attention mount, they begin to fall for each other,” the synopsis reads. “But is this just a rebound… or the start of a real Christmas romance?”

In a statement, Hannah Pillemer, head of Scripted at Fox Entertainment, said the studio “is excited to grant the Christmas wish of countless holiday rom-com fans with the long-awaited reunion,” adding, “This iconic couple stole our hearts over 25 years ago, and we are grateful to work with them on this all-new romantic comedy filled with holiday magic.”

Prinze last starred opposite Cook as Zack, the king of high school who finds himself unceremoniously dumped by his cheerleader girlfriend, in Robert Iscove’s teen rom-com She’s All That. Desperate to revive his reputation, Zach gains the trust of nerdy outcast Laney (Cook) to concoct a vain scheme to turn her into the next prom queen.

The starry cast included Matthew Lillard as the sleazy TV star that Zach’s girlfriend dumps him for, as well as the late Paul Walker, Gabrielle Union, Anna Paquin, and Kieran Culkin.

Cook notably made a cameo in Netflix’s 2021 gender-swapped He’s All That, playing a new role as protagonist Addison Rae’s mother. Prinze did not appear in the movie, but he and Cook have reunited on red carpets here and there, including at the most recent Los Angeles premiere of Prinze’s thriller The Girl in the Pool last year.
