Love Island season 7 contestant Yulissa Escobar has been ejected from the Fiji-set Peacock reality series following a resurfaced video of her using the N-word.
The current season’s second episode, which premiered Wednesday, began with an abrupt announcement that “Yulissa has left the villa” after TMZ published the video, which showed Escobar using the slur during past podcast appearances, on Tuesday.
When reached for comment, a representative for the series confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that “Yulissa left the villa” but gave no reason for her sudden departure from the dating series.
EW has additionally reached out to Escobar’s representatives for comment.

Fans have called for Escobar to be booted in recent days in the Instagram comments section underneath her cast portrait, with several reactions advocating for her early elimination. (The comments have since been limited by Escobar’s profile.)
“Can’t wait to send u home,” one person wrote, while another added, “We’re sending you home the FIRST vote.”
Hailing from Miami, Escobar was first announced as a season 7 contestant in May, with her network bio indicating that she recently finished a nine-year relationship. She said she was “glad he broke my heart, because look at me here,” and that she grew stronger from the experience.

“I’m here to find my knight in shining armor. I want that movie kind of love,” the 27-year-old mobile bar owner said in her promotional interview for the show. “I’m super fun. I’m like this bundle of joy that came out of nowhere.”
Love Island airs new episodes this week beginning at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT, with the next round of new episodes streaming Thursdays through Tuesdays after.
