Where can I watch ‘The Chosen’?

Hallelujah, a new season of The Chosen is upon us.

A multi-season exploration of the life and death of Jesus of Nazareth, the series began in 2019 as a crowd-funded project on the VidAngel platform. Since then, it’s grown considerably in scale, with creator Dallas Jenkins — the son of Left Behind series co-author Jerry Jenkins — revealing a seven-season plan that’s approaching fruition.

Season 5 premieres in June 2025, and season 6 is currently in production.

As The Chosen grew in popularity, Jenkins worked to make it more widely available. At various points in its run, episodes aired on The CW and streamed on platforms such as Netflix, Peacock, and YouTube, not to mention the show’s official app and website. Beginning with its third season, select episodes were also screened in movie theaters around the globe.

In 2025, Jenkins announced that The Chosen would stream on Amazon Prime Video. Furthermore, Amazon MGM Studios committed to premiering episodes of its fifth, sixth, and seventh seasons in theaters before they land on the streamer, per Deadline. It’s a lucrative endeavor, as screenings of The Chosen have proven to be successful at the box office.

Confused? That’s okay. If you’re wondering where to watch The Chosen, we’ve got the answers below.

What is The Chosen about?

Jonathan Roumie as Jesus of Nazareth in ‘The Chosen’ season 5.

Perhaps you’ve heard this one before, but The Chosen tells the story of Jesus of Nazareth as he builds a ministry, performs miracles, and marches towards his fate as recounted in the Bible.

It’s a familiar story, sure, but this isn’t The Passion of the Christ. Stories about the Son of God are often Passion Plays about his trial, suffering, crucifixion, and resurrection, but The Chosen distinguishes itself by focusing on the life of Jesus, as seen through the eyes of those around him.

While Jesus’ death hangs heavy over the series, the first four seasons primarily center around him recruiting disciples, preaching his message, and performing miracles, with the latter drawing ire from various political and religious forces.

Season 5, however, will set the stage for Jesus’ eventual crucifixion and resurrection. In fact, the season is titled The Chosen: Last Supper.

“The people of Israel welcome Jesus as king while his disciples anticipate his crowning,” reads a synopsis. “But — instead of confronting Rome — he turns the tables on the Jewish religious festival. Their power threatened, the country’s religious and political leaders will go to any length to ensure this Passover meal is Jesus’ last.”

The Chosen season 5 will stream on Amazon Prime Video on Sunday, June 15, with the season’s first two episodes available for subscribers.

The next three episodes of The Chosen season 5 will hit the streamer on Sunday, June 22, with the final three episodes arriving the following week on Sunday, June 29.

The Chosen seasons 1, 2, 3, and 4 are currently available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.

Not an Amazon subscriber? You have other options, including the ability to stream the show for free via the official The Chosen website.

The Chosen is also streaming for free via the series’ official app, which you can download via the App Store or Google Play. The app is compatible with iOS, Android, and Roku devices, as well as Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, and Google TV.

While you can currently watch the first four seasons of The Chosen on the app and website, season 5 won’t be available on those platforms until Sept. 13, 2025. This is due to Prime Video having a 90-day exclusivity window for the season.

Finally, Jenkins is hosting early livestreams of select episodes via The Chosen‘s YouTube channel. The first episode of season 5 was livestreamed on June 8, a week before its debut, and a livestream of episode 3 is currently slated for Wednesday, June 18 at 8 p.m. ET. Stay tuned to the show’s YouTube hub for updates about future livestreams.

The Chosen: The Last Supper will be available to watch for free on The Chosen App on Sept. 13, 2025, which is 90 days after its debut on Prime Video, according to Jenkins.

How did The Chosen season 4 end?

Set during the last year of Jesus’ ministry, season 4 of The Chosen found Jesus performing some of the Bible’s most striking miracles, from giving sight to a blind man to raising Lazarus from the dead.

It’s the raising of Lazarus that really sets the stage for season 5, as it’s the miracle that turns the Pharisees against Jesus, leading them to side with the Roman authorities that want him killed.

Season 4 ends before the Holy Week, with Jesus riding a donkey into Jerusalem, where he will later be crucified in season 6. Season 5 unpacks the events of the Holy Week leading up to his death.

Who’s in The Chosen season 5 cast?

Paul Ben-Victor as King Herod in ‘The Chosen’ season 5.

Prime Video

Leading the cast of The Chosen is Jonathan Roumie, who appeared on episodes of Castle (2014), NCIS: Los Angeles (2015), The Good Wife (2016), and The Mindy Project (2017) before joining The Chosen as its Jesus of Nazareth.

Season 5 will see the return of several key figures, including Luke Dimyan’s Judas Iscariot, Joey Vahedi’s Thomas, Elizabeth Tabish’s Mary Magdalene, and Vanessa Benavente’s Mary of Nazareth, among others.

Also returning is one of The Chosen’s most recognizable faces: journeyman actor Paul Ben-Victor. In season 5, Ben-Victor, a veteran of The Wire (2003–2008) and Nobody Wants This (2024), will reprise his role of King Herod.

Is there a The Chosen season 5 trailer?

There is, and it currently has over 3.5 million views on YouTube.

Set to Johnny Cash’s “God’s Gonna Cut You Down,” the trailer teases Jesus’ arrest, Judas’ betrayal, and the oft-cited instance where Jesus cleansed the Temple in Jerusalem by kicking out the merchants and overturning the tables of the money changers.

The trailer also offers a glimpse of Jesus’ final meal with his apostles, famously depicted in Leonardo da Vinci’s The Last Supper.
