- Silverman replied by telling Haines that she’d spoiled “a bit of a punchline” to a joke.
Sarah Silverman’s comedic material usually kills on stage, though The View cohost Sara Haines might’ve just inadvertently killed one of the comedian’s new jokes during a recent live interview.
Silverman appeared Thursday on the talk show to discuss her new Netflix special PostMortem, which celebrates the life of the comic’s late parents, including her biological mother, stepmother, and her father, nicknamed Schleppy.
Throughout the special, Silverman reveals charming stories about her dad, including one where he left her a voicemail at the same time he accidentally went through a car wash with his windows down.

“I had so many funny stories about him, and that’s where I started from when I started over,” Silverman told the cohosts of reflecting on her dad’s quirks, which included him exclaiming, “Oi!” multiple times in the voicemail from the car wash.
“That’s a very specific, ‘Oi!'” Silverman added. “I remember hearing it only one other time, we went to the movies, me and him.”
Without missing a beat, Haines pointed toward Silverman and smiled, repeating the name of the film they saw together — a title Silverman reveals in the special at the end of the joke.
“Boys Don’t Cry!” Haines said, beaming.
“That was a little bit of a punchline, but… killing it,” Silverman replied as the audience laughed.
Haines tilted her head back in embarrassment over the reveal, while cohost Alyssa Farah Griffin exclaimed, “Way to go, Sara” after the gaffe.
