Kim Kardashian Leads Tributes on Daughter North West’s 12th Birthday

North West is celebrating her 12th birthday in style.

On Sunday, June 12, the daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West celebrated her last preteen birthday. To mark the occasion, Kim, 44, shared several unseen photos on Instagram that were taken throughout North’s childhood.

The Skims founder showed herself kissing North’s cheek as a baby, followed by a playful snap of her daughter when as a toddler. The cute selection of photos also included a tiny North experimenting with musical instruments, sleeping, and holding a toy microphone.

The collection of images concluded with a picture of hands wearing personalised rings that read  “North West” across each finger.

“My little baby North turns 12 years old today,” Kim captioned the Instagram post. “We were looking at pics today together and laughing so hard, you were so small.”

She added, “It’s been the most special calling being your mom. I love you forever and got you forever my bubs.”

Serena Williams posted two heart eye emojis while Katy Perry added, “Make time slow down!!!” as they joined the thousands of commenters in wishing North a happy birthday under Kim’s post.

Kris Jenner shared a tribute of her own to North West on her Instagram Stories. She posted six photos of her granddaughter, including one of the family wearing matching pajamas and another of North and Kim dressed as Clueless’s Cher and Dionne.

A third snap captured a moment that saw Kim and North pouting for the camera while Kris stood behind smiling. 

“Happy Birthday North,” she wrote, alongside a heart hands emoji.

Jenner later posted a Father’s Day tribute to celebrate the men in her famous family that included a snap of North with dad, Kanye, writing, “Happy Father’s Day to all of the dads, step dads, grandfathers, and father figures out there!”

Kim and West’s first and eldest child was born on June 15, 2013, in Los Angeles, she was later joined by siblings Saint, 9, in December 2015, Chicago, 7, in January 2018 and Psalm, 6, in May 2019. The couple divorced in November 2022.

And according to grandmother Kris Jenner, North’s name has a “sweet” significance.

“The way [Kim] explained it to me was that North means highest power, and she says that North is their highest point together,” Jenner, 69, once explained on The View.

Meanwhile, Kim recently teased that North may be the most popular member of the extended Kardashian-Jenner family.

In a post-credits scene from an episode of The Kardashians, Kim looked at the analytics from daughter North’s The Lion King performance, when she was asked to perform “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King” at the Hollywood Bowl in 2024.

Shocked to learn that North was more popular than the rest of her family, Kardashian said her mini-me “generated 22 billion impressions and over $1 billion in advertising [and] media.”

“Wait a minute. North West has 18% more popularity than all of her family members,” Kardashian continued. “Um, okay. We’re gonna have to work on this.”

The SKIMS mogul added, “North, you’re not gonna take me down.”
