Disney World and Muppets lovers are saying a last goodbye to a favorite attraction.
The curtains of Jim Henson’s Muppet*Vision 3D will close forever Saturday, June 7, after 34 years at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
To mark its last day the show will stay open an extra hour, until the park closes at 10 p.m, so as many fans as possible can say goodbye. Disney cast members will get to see the very last performance.
The news was first announced in November 2024 and the closing date was confirmed in May 2025. The beloved attraction, which combines a 3D movie, real special effects and iconic character animatronics was the last project the late Jim Henson worked on himself before his death.

Fans expressed their disappointment at the loss of the classic attraction when the news first broke. “This is not gonna sit well with people,” one Instagram commenter predicted. Another added simply, “Not cool.”
But many have found special ways to honor the Muppets in the months since. Some have been “rope-dropping” the ride — aka speed-walking directly to it the moment the park opens in the morning — as if it’s the most in-demand new thrill ride, to show their respect.
On Friday, its second-to-last day of operation, there was a long line outside the ride, which is usually an easy walk-on, one park-goer shared on Reddit.
“Went twice in the last week. I’m gonna miss it tremendously,” a commenter shared. A second announced an ambitious plan: “Wife and I are going tomorrow and going to see how many times we can do it open to close. RIP to one of the goats.”
Another fan live-streamed their final visit for five hours this week.
One person performed Gonzo’s big number in full cosplay, complete with a flower pot balanced on their head.
And yet another shared nostalgia-inducing vintage footage of a childhood visit in the ’90s.
The Muppets aren’t leaving the Orlando park altogether, however.
Disney previously revealed the characters are getting a new gig as the stars of a re-themed Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. Kermit, Miss Piggy and the gang will be “teaming up with some of music’s biggest stars for a rockin’ music festival!” according to the official Disney Parks Blog.

The thrill ride, also located in Hollywood Studios, is currently hosted by — and features the music of — Aerosmith, as it has since it opened in 1999. The dark coaster is Disney World’s most intense with three inversions, so it may not accommodate less daring Muppet lovers’ desire to still have them be part of the park-going experience.
Muppet Courtyard, the area previously occupied by Muppet*Vision as well as the restaurant Pizza Rizzo, will be transformed into a new land themed to Monsters Inc.

Billy Crystal, who voices Mike Wazowski, appeared onstage at the D23 fan conference in August 2024 to announce the addition, complete with a ride that travels through the door factory from the film that will be the first-ever suspended coaster for a Disney park.
The Monsters Inc. land does not yet have an opening date.
