Isle of Man TT 2025: Senior race called off due to high winds

The 2025 Isle of Man TT’s Senior race – the competition’s blue riband showpiece – will not take place at this year’s event due to weather concerns.

Organisers announced on Saturday evening that the race had been cancelled due to gusty conditions around the course.

It is only the second time in the event’s history that the Senior race has not been run – the other occasion was in 2012.

Clerk of the course Gary Thompson said the decision had been taken on safety grounds following feedback from riders who took part in a course inspection lap.

Announcing the cancellation, he said the “general feeling is that it [the course] is unsuitable for racing today”.

The race had already been delayed by more than seven hours and reduced from six laps to four because of wet roads due to earlier rain.

Organisers had ruled out Saturday’s blue riband Senior event being switched to Sunday due to reduced road closure times and poor weather forecast for the contingency session.
